How to get a YouTube Shorts transcript

Three steps, no account, no software to install.

  1. 1. Copy the video link

On the YouTube app tap Share → Copy link. On desktop copy the address bar URL. Shorts links (youtube.com/shorts/...), youtu.be links and normal watch links all work.

  2. 2. Paste it into Silencezap

Paste the link on the home page and press “Get transcript”. We read the caption track published with the video and clean it up into readable lines.

  3. 3. Copy, time-stamp or download

The transcript appears as plain text. Switch on timestamps if you need them, choose another caption language when the video has more than one, then copy the text or save it as a .txt file.

If a video has captions disabled, there is no text to read and the transcript can’t be generated — see the FAQ.
